Veep Launches Mfantsipim School 150th Anniversary Celebrations

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has officially inaugurated the 150th anniversary celebrations of Mfantsipim School, hailing the institution as a foundational pillar of Ghana’s intellectual and leadership history. Speaking at the launch, the Vice President emphasized the school’s enduring legacy of discipline and character formation, noting that its graduates have consistently driven national development across multiple generations. She particularly highlighted the school’s intergenerational influence and its role in shaping the country’s social and professional landscape through a commitment to excellence rooted in the vision of the Methodist Church Ghana.

During her address, the Vice President touched upon the importance of expanding educational access while maintaining high standards of quality and innovation. She pointed to the respectful rivalry between Mfantsipim and Adisadel College as a model for constructive national dialogue, characterized by mutual respect and intellectual engagement. Adding to the government’s commitment to the sector, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, announced new support initiatives for the education of persons with disabilities and pledged to prioritize the completion of ongoing infrastructure projects at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

The ceremony concluded with a call to action for the current student body to uphold the traditional values of integrity and service that have defined the school for a century and a half. Vice President Opoku-Agyemang commended the alumni and various stakeholders for their dedicated support of the institution’s growth and expressed her firm confidence that Mfantsipim School would continue to exert a transformative influence on the nation for many years to come.
