Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has formally extended her gratitude to the Chancellor, Sir Sam Jonah, and the Governing Council of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) following the conferment of a Distinguished Fellowship Award upon her.

The honor marks a significant milestone for the state official as it is the first award of its kind ever issued by the university.

During the ceremony at her alma mater, Professor Opoku-Agyemang reflected on her long-standing relationship with the institution, tracing her professional trajectory from her early days as the Hall Warden of Adehye Hall to her eventual tenure as the university’s Vice Chancellor.

Speaking to the university community, the Vice President emphasized the essential connection between academic study and societal progress, noting that the campus’s proximity to seven local towns serves as a constant reminder that education must result in tangible improvements for the nation.

She described the fellowship as both humbling and a call to action, asserting that individuals across all professions carry a responsibility to mentor and uplift others.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang concluded her remarks by highlighting the importance of leadership and guidance, stating that such contributions are vital to holding the future in trust for successive generations.
