The Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yuhonu, led a high-ranking delegation from the New York Police Department (NYPD) to meet with the Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Accra today.
The visiting team was headed by Roberto Rios, the NYPD’s Chief of Intelligence and Counterterrorism, marking a significant reciprocal gesture following the IGP’s recent official visit to New York. This diplomatic engagement aimed to deepen the strategic partnership between the two law enforcement agencies, with a primary focus on fostering cross-border collaboration and the exchange of critical internal security expertise.
During the meeting, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak expressed his appreciation for the international outreach, noting that such alliances are vital for improving the quality of police operations and public services in both Ghana and the United States. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to modernizing the Ghana Police Service and enhancing its technological and tactical capabilities through global cooperation.
Mr. Rios thanked the Minister for the hospitality and assured him of the NYPD’s continued support in joint security efforts. The visit underscores a growing mutual interest in intelligence sharing and counterterrorism, further solidifying the long-standing bilateral relations between the two nations in the pursuit of global safety.
