The Agriculture Sector Skills Body (ASSB) of Ghana is set to receive support from the EU-ILO Green Project to develop a comprehensive strategy for agriculture sector skills development. The support is part of efforts to enhance agribusiness incubation management, promote green agribusiness skills development, and foster climate-smart agriculture practices.
A meeting between the ASSB and the EU-ILO Green Project team, held recently, discussed the proposed activities, including the development of an Agriculture Sector Skills Certification Scheme and a Labour Market Intelligence Management System. The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Dr. Christian Sewordor Mensah, Secretary of the ASSB, Dr. Felix Mawuli Kamasa, Chairman of the Fund Raising Committee and CEO of Maphlix Farms, Dr. Joseph Nunoo, Member of the Research Committee, and Dr. Theophilus Tetteh, representing CTVET.
The ASSB Chairman, Mr. Anthony Morrison, CEO of the Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana, conveyed his solidarity message to the team despite being out of the country. The meeting aimed to build on previous discussions and explore areas of collaboration to enhance agribusiness incubation management, green agribusiness skills development, and climate-smart agriculture practices.
The EU-ILO Green Project team, represented by Dr. Lloyds Ngo and Mr. Gideon Mankralo expressed interest in supporting the ASSB’s initiatives and requested literature on the proposed activities to facilitate further discussions. The ASSB team is expected to share relevant documents and work closely with the EU-ILO Green Project team to develop a robust strategy for agriculture sector skills development in Ghana.
The meeting also explored opportunities for partnering with institutions within the sector skills body to enhance agribusiness incubation management, create more opportunities for green agribusiness skills development, and promote climate-smart agriculture and precision farming practices.
“The support from the EU-ILO Green Project is a significant boost to our efforts to develop the agriculture sector in Ghana,” said Dr. Christian Sewordor Mensah. “We are committed to working with our partners to create a skilled workforce that can drive the growth of the agriculture sector and contribute to Ghana’s economic development.”
The ASSB is optimistic about the partnership and looks forward to working with the EU-ILO Green Project team to enhance the agriculture sector’s contribution to Ghana’s economic growth and development.

The ASSB is a multi-stakeholder platform that brings together industry, government, and training providers to promote skills development in the agriculture sector. The EU-ILO Green Project is a technical assistance project aimed at promoting a green economy and decent work in Ghana.
