The Ministry of Health has reached a significant milestone in its efforts to enhance national emergency response capabilities following the receipt of a substantial consignment of medical supplies and life-saving equipment. In a ceremony held yesterday, the World Health Organization (WHO) Ghana, supported by the German Government, joined forces with DHL Global Forwarding to deliver a comprehensive suite of tools designed to fortify the country’s clinical care framework.

The donation from WHO Ghana, presented by Country Representative Dr. Francis Kasolo, focused heavily on respiratory support and patient monitoring. The specialized package included 20 high-capacity oxygen concentrators with full accessories, 2,000 venturi masks tailored for both adult and pediatric patients, and 2,000 nasal oxygen cannulas. To ensure precise patient tracking, the consignment also featured 400 fingertip pulse oximeters and 50 portable handheld pulse oximeters.

Dr. Kasolo emphasized that these items are strategically intended to strengthen the management of infectious diseases and elevate the standard of emergency services available to Ghanaians, particularly in critical care settings.

Furthering this collaborative effort, the private sector demonstrated its commitment to national health through DHL Global Forwarding. Mr. Serigne Ndanck Mbaye, CEO of DHL West Africa and Country Head of Ghana, presented 192 cartons containing nitrile gloves and hand sanitizers. Mr. Mbaye noted that this contribution is a core element of the company’s corporate social responsibility, aimed at ensuring frontline healthcare workers have the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform their duties safely and effectively.

Receiving the items, Ministry of Health officials expressed profound gratitude for the continued partnership with international and corporate bodies. They noted that the integration of this equipment into the national healthcare system will significantly reduce the burden on existing facilities and provide a vital safety net during medical emergencies.

This combined donation highlights a multi-sectoral approach to health, ensuring that Ghana remains resilient in the face of evolving global health challenges.
