The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Police Management Board (POMAB) hosted the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, at the National Police Headquarters in Accra on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

This high-level courtesy call was designed to deepen the existing partnership between the two institutions, with a primary focus on enhancing sports security and the overall development of Ghanaian football.

During the deliberations, both leadership teams emphasized the urgent need to uphold high ethical standards within the game, specifically targeting the rising challenges of match manipulation and unauthorized betting activities that threaten the sport’s reputation.

To safeguard the credibility of the Ghana Premier League and various domestic competitions, the GFA and the Police Service reaffirmed their commitment to a joint strategy involving rigorous intelligence sharing, proactive investigations, and robust preventive measures.

Beyond security and integrity concerns, the meeting also served as a platform to explore the development of a modern sporting facility dedicated to the Police Service. Both parties expressed a strong readiness to collaborate on these infrastructure goals and long-term initiatives, signaling a unified front in protecting the integrity of the national pastime while providing better resources for law enforcement athletes.
