The Ministry of Health has directed the immediate implementation of rigorous security measures across all health facilities in Ghana following a recent baby theft incident at the Mamprobi Polyclinic. In a statement issued by Isaac Ofei Baah, Head of the Public Relations Unit, the Minister for Health instructed the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service to ensure strict day and night enforcement of security protocols nationwide to prevent similar occurrences.
As part of the new safety mandate, health facility administrators have been tasked with conducting an immediate review and strengthening of their internal security systems. The Minister also reiterated a standing government directive that requires all medical centers across the country to install and maintain functional CCTV surveillance systems to enhance monitoring and accountability.
While the investigation into the Mamprobi Polyclinic case remains ongoing, the Ministry commended the Ghana Police Service, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and the whistleblower whose efforts led to a swift response. The Ministry of Health has urged the general public to remain calm, reaffirming the government’s commitment to patient safety and the integrity of the national health sector.
