The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), has commenced a two-day official visit to Burkina Faso aimed at reinforcing bilateral relations and deepening cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

Upon his arrival, the Minister was received by his Burkinabè counterpart, His Excellency Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, alongside Ghana’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, His Excellency Kenneth Akibate.

The diplomatic mission centers on enhancing security cooperation and intensifying political consultations to address evolving regional security challenges that affect both countries.

A key component of the visit includes the signing of strategic agreements intended to consolidate the long-standing partnership between Ghana and Burkina Faso.

This diplomatic push follows a period of heightened security concerns in the region. Before departing from Accra, Minister Ablakwa visited the 37 Military Hospital to demonstrate solidarity with Ghanaian survivors of the February 14th terrorist attack in Titao, northern Burkina Faso.

These survivors, primarily traders, were recently airlifted back to Ghana by the Ghana Air Force and are currently receiving medical treatment for their injuries.
