Ghana’s Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, held a high-level working meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Mustafa Çiftçi, in Ankara on Friday to deepen bilateral cooperation on national security and emergency management.

The diplomatic visit focused on establishing robust frameworks for intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism strategies, and comprehensive capacity building for Ghana’s internal security agencies. Both ministers emphasized the importance of a unified approach to tackling modern security threats, including organized crime, drug trafficking, and the complexities of irregular migration.

The discussions also extended to technical collaboration in disaster management and the enhancement of emergency response systems, leveraging Türkiye’s expertise in these fields.

Accompanying the Minister were key heads of Ghana’s security architecture, including the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Samuel Basintale Amadu, and the Director General of the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD), COP Gabriel Prince Waabu, along with senior officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).

This visit is expected to pave the way for a more integrated security partnership between the two nations, ensuring better preparedness for both regional and domestic security challenges.
