President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama arrived in Lusaka today for a three-day State Visit aimed at deepening bilateral ties and regional integration between Ghana and Zambia.

The President and his delegation transitioned from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where they had participated in the World Governments Summit earlier this week.

Upon arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, the President and First Lady were received by Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema and First Lady Mutinta Hichilema. The visit is a centerpiece of President Mahama’s “Connected Africa” agenda, focusing on the expansion of transport infrastructure, cross-border trade, and the movement of goods and services under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.

The President’s itinerary includes an engagement with the Ghanaian community in Lusaka on Wednesday evening to discuss welfare and national development. On Thursday, the two heads of state are scheduled to hold high-level bilateral talks at the State House to review diplomatic cooperation and economic partnerships. A major highlight of the mission will be President Mahama’s address to the National Assembly of Zambia.

During the session, he is expected to present his vision for a more integrated and prosperous continent, advocating for collective investment in infrastructure and shared economic growth.

The visit follows the President’s recent participation in the launch of the Global Africa Investment Summit in Dubai. Alongside other African leaders and former African Development Bank President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President Mahama helped initiate the platform, which is scheduled to convene its primary summit in Luanda, Angola, later this year to mobilize international capital for African development projects.
