Africa International House USA, Inc. has announced the cancellation of Expressions From Englewood: Prose, Poetry & Passion, originally scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Center of Contemporary African Art & Culture in Harris Park. The decision comes in response to severe weather conditions affecting the Chicago area.
Organizers emphasized that the wellbeing of seniors, artists, and community members remains their foremost concern. With travel conditions deteriorating and temperatures posing risks to vulnerable attendees, the leadership determined that postponing the event was the most responsible course of action.
The cancellation marks a temporary pause in what has become a cherished cultural tradition. For two decades, Expressions From Englewood has served as a vibrant platform for poetry, prose, music, and storytelling—uplifting local voices and celebrating the creative spirit of the community. Supporters were thanked for their unwavering commitment to the program and its mission.
Africa International House USA, Inc. noted that plans are already underway to reschedule the celebration. A new date will be announced once conditions allow for a safe and fully engaging experience.
