The Ministry of Health has announced the formation of a committee to investigate allegations of unprofessional conduct at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital, following a widely circulated investigative report by The Fourth Estate. In a statement signed by Tony Goodman, Head of Health Training Institutions and Spokesperson, the Ministry expressed deep concern and surprise regarding the revelations contained in the media house’s report.
While expressing sympathy for patients and relatives who may have experienced unprofessional treatment, the Ministry emphasized that it considers the issues raised to be of a serious nature requiring a thorough examination. The investigative committee is expected to submit its formal findings within fourteen working days to help ensure accountability and the improvement of service delivery.
The Ministry further called for the full cooperation of all relevant stakeholders, including The Fourth Estate, to provide the necessary details to unravel the facts of the case and uphold the government’s commitment to reducing the stress and financial burdens faced by citizens accessing healthcare.
