The Ministry of Foreign Affairs successfully concluded a two-day management retreat held from January 10 to 11, 2026, aimed at reviewing the ministry’s 2025 performance and establishing strategic targets for the current year. The forum provided an interactive platform for leadership and staff to engage in in-depth discussions regarding the ministry’s 2026 agenda and to develop strategies for achieving set objectives within the required timelines.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, commended the staff for their accomplishments over the past year and expressed optimism for increased productivity in 2026. Addressing Ghana’s position within the current international system, the Minister reiterated the nation’s commitment to a non-aligned foreign policy and urged officials to pursue national interests diligently. He emphasized that the primary goal of Ghanaian diplomacy must be to produce tangible benefits and impactful results for its citizens.
The Chief Director, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, called for renewed commitment and excellence in the conduct of the nation’s diplomatic affairs while expressing appreciation for leadership’s focus on staff welfare and institutional mandates.
Closing the session, the Deputy Minister, James Gyakye Quayson, assured the ministry of leadership’s dedication to transparency and accountability. He challenged the staff to translate the ministry’s strategic vision into concrete outcomes, ending the retreat with a shared resolve to enhance collaboration and fulfill the ministry’s mandate throughout 2026.
