Police officers in Accra responded swiftly to a distress call yesterday after reports indicated that a group of about 50 suspected landguards had launched an armed attack on workers at a project site.
According to police sources, officers arrived to find the suspects firing indiscriminately at the workers. A pursuit ensued, leading to the arrest of six suspects believed to be part of the armed group.
During the operation, police recovered three firearms, 23 rounds of ammunition, and four motorbikes suspected to have been used by the attackers.
The arrested individuals, along with the seized weapons and motorbikes, have been transferred to the Accra Regional Police Headquarters to assist with ongoing investigations.
Police say efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the remaining members of the group who fled the scene.
