President John Dramani Mahama has directed Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to lead a high-level delegation to the Central Region to inspect the site earmarked for the development of Africa’s largest Free Zones Industrial Park. This landmark project, a cornerstone of Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy initiative, is projected to transform into a new industrial city within the next decade. Estimates suggest the development will create over 300,000 jobs and establish the zone as the primary business capital of the African continent.
The Vice President’s delegation includes a broad coalition of public and private sector leadership, featuring the CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area, and the CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre. They are joined by representatives from the Securities and Exchange Commission, the leadership of the Car Dealers Association of Ghana, and various private investors and business stakeholders.
Upon arrival, the delegation will be formally received by Central Regional Minister Ekow Panyin, alongside the Paramount Chiefs of the Gomoa Ajumako and Gomoa Assin Traditional Areas, and District Chief Executive Hackman Aidoo.
In a dual-purpose visit to the region, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang will also commission an ultramodern poultry farm project at Gomoa Pomadze. Constructed by the Ahmadiyya Community in Ghana, the facility is designed to strengthen the nation’s agro-industrial base and improve food security. Officials noted that the farm will focus on creating sustainable employment opportunities, particularly targeting the youth population in the area.
