The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reaffirmed that the approved 2025/2026 academic calendar for Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) remains unchanged. In a statement issued by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyí, the Service emphasized that all Heads of Schools, teachers, students, and parents should adhere strictly to the schedule released at the start of the academic year.
Single‑Track Schools Maintain Original Schedule
For single‑track institutions, the timelines for Forms 1, 2, and 3 remain as initially communicated.
Forms 1 & 2:
- Report: 5 January – 27 February 2026
- Break: 27 February – 3 May 2026
- Return: 4 May – 21 August 2026 (End of Academic Year)
Form 3:
- Report: 5 January – 27 February 2026
- Break: 28 February – 13 March 2026
- Return: 14 March – 21 June 2026 (End of School Year)
Transitional Schools to Combine In‑Person and Off‑Campus Learning
GES also outlined detailed schedules for transitional schools, where students will alternate between on‑campus and off‑campus learning.
Form 3:
- Report: 5 January – 31 March 2026
- Easter Break: 1 – 8 April 2026
- Return: 9 April – 21 June 2026 (End of School Year)
Form 2:
- Report: 5 January – 15 March 2026
- Online/Off‑Campus: 16 March – 17 April 2026
- Vacation: 18 April – 17 May 2026
- Return: 18 May – 4 September 2026 (End of Academic Year)

GES Rolls Out Support Systems for Off‑Campus Learning
To ensure continuity of teaching and learning during off‑campus periods, GES announced a three‑tier support system:
- Projects and Assignments:
Students will engage in structured self‑learning using approved textbooks and curriculum materials. All resources are available free of charge at curriculumresources.edu.gh. - MoE TV Broadcasts:
Daily live lessons will air on the Ministry of Education TV channel, accessible via Multi TV. - School‑Based Learning Management Systems (LMS):
Schools with existing LMS platforms are encouraged to fully deploy them during off‑campus periods, with GES offering additional support where needed.
Off‑Campus Periods Are Not Vacations
GES stressed that off‑campus learning is a compulsory component of the academic calendar, not a holiday. Students are expected to participate fully through at least one of the available learning avenues.
The Service called on Heads of Schools, teachers, parents, and guardians to provide the necessary supervision and support to ensure students remain engaged throughout the blended learning cycle.
