ACCRA, Ghana—Mr. Gregory James Hinds, the Director of the Counter Terrorism Directorate at the Interpol General Secretariat in Lyon, France, recently concluded a high-level working visit with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of Ghana, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno. The visit highlights the deepening collaborative relationship between the global policing body and the Ghana Police Service, particularly in addressing complex transnational security challenges.

The meeting between the two security chiefs centered on fortifying Ghana’s strategies against terrorism and related organized crime. While the specific details of their discussions were not immediately made public, such engagements are typically geared toward enhancing critical operational areas. These include strengthening protocols for intelligence sharing, developing capacity-building programs for local law enforcement, and coordinating regional collaborative approaches to pre-empt security threats across the West African sub-region.

Mr. Hinds’s visit reinforces the commitment of Interpol to supporting member states in enhancing their counter-terrorism capabilities. This continuous international cooperation is considered vital as Ghana, situated in a region facing persistent security risks, works to upgrade its preparedness and effectiveness in mitigating threats and ensuring national stability.
