Accra—The Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) is teetering on the edge of collapse, and the alarm bells are ringing loudly. Students and staff, once silent, are now speaking out with urgency, demanding that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, and other national leaders intervene immediately to reset the institution. Their cry is not just about inconvenience, it is about survival of standards in higher education.
Graduation looms only three days away, yet the official graduation list remains unreleased. This delay has left students in limbo, unsure whether their years of study will culminate in recognition or in bureaucratic betrayal. To compound the crisis, management is allegedly instructing students to purchase their own graduation medals and ceremonial items, a directive that has been met with outrage and disbelief. What should be a moment of pride has been reduced to a spectacle of mismanagement.
The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), charged with oversight, is accused of failing to regulate effectively, allowing the rot to deepen unchecked. Students and staff describe the situation as unbearable, pointing to propable corruption and mismanagement that have gone “completely out of control.” The credibility of the university, they argue, is at stake, and with it the futures of countless graduates.
The call for intervention is clear: national leaders must act swiftly to halt the decline, restore accountability, and rescue GCTU from the abyss. Without decisive action, graduation day risks becoming not a celebration of achievement but a symbol of institutional failure.
This is not just a university crisis, it is a national test of whether standards, integrity, and the hopes of young people can still be defended.

hmmmmm
Worst case, the graduation list is not out, and graduation is just this Saturday. 3 days away.
The list must go through a series of approval steps. The below normally takes a minimum of a month
1. Department.
2. Faculty.
3. Graduation Committee
4. Academic Board
5. Council ratifies the list.
There are a lot of international students, and the graduation is 3 days away without a graduation list.
The graduation must be postponed.
