The President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, commissioned eleven new diplomats to represent the nation abroad. The group consists of three High Commissioners-designate and eight Ambassadors-designate, who officially took the Oaths of Allegiance, Office, and Secrecy at the ceremony. Among the commissioned Envoys are Mrs. Theresa Adjei-Mensah to the Czech Republic, Dr. Felix Kumah Godwin Anebo to Senegal, and Mrs. Mona Helen Kabuki Quartey to the Italian Republic. Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo was commissioned as High Commissioner-designate to Kenya, while Amb. Doris Adzo Denyo Brese will serve as High Commissioner-designate to Australia.
Addressing the newly commissioned diplomats, President Mahama emphasized the significant shift in international relations driven by climate change, technological advancement, and geopolitics. He explicitly tasked the envoys with utilizing diplomacy as a strategic tool for national development, urging them to use Ghana’s Missions abroad as hubs to promote trade, investment, technology transfer, and tourism. The President stressed that their performance would be guided and measured by specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set for Heads of Mission, highlighting the importance of financial discipline and integrity in their new roles. He further reminded them that their work aligns with the Reset Agenda, which aims to rebuild confidence in governance and strengthen public institutions for the benefit of citizens.
Other appointees include Mr. Kenneth Akibate (Burkina Faso), Prof. Justice Solomon Korantwi Barimah (Egypt), Brig. Gen. Alhassan Abu (Rtd) (Cote d’Ivoire), Ms. Elizabeth Nyantakyi (Zambia), Mr. Eddison Mensah Agbenyegah (Netherlands), and Mr. Edward Kwaku Cofie (Algeria). The Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, and other senior Government officials were present at the ceremony.
Speaking on behalf of the newly commissioned envoys, the Ambassador-designate to the Italian Republic expressed gratitude to the President for the confidence reposed in them and assured the nation of their readiness to diligently contribute their quota to national development.
