Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has presented the 2026 budget statement and economic policy to Parliament, focusing on resetting the economy for growth, jobs, and transformation. The budget prioritizes consolidating macroeconomic stability, sustaining fiscal discipline, strengthening revenue mobilisation, and ensuring responsible debt management.
According to the Finance Minister, inflation is expected to remain on a downward trajectory, and the Covid levy has been scrapped. This move is part of the government’s efforts to stimulate economic growth and alleviate the financial burden on citizens. The budget also aims to create jobs and promote economic transformation, aligning with the government’s vision for sustainable development.
Parliament will debate the budget and consider estimates for various Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and independent constitutional bodies before approving the 2026 Budget. The presentation of the budget statement marks a crucial step towards shaping Ghana’s economic direction, and stakeholders are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the parliamentary deliberations.
