Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced a significant financial commitment to the national football team during the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Dr. Forson revealed that GH¢150 million has been allocated to support the Black Stars for their participation in the 2026 World Cup. This funding is intended to ensure the team has the necessary resources to compete effectively on the global stage.
The allocation, highlighted as part of key investments in the economic recovery plan, reflects the government’s commitment to supporting sports development. The move is viewed as an effort to boost national pride and support sports tourism, which contributes to the economy.
