Accra, Ghana — The Bank of Ghana hosted a special “Kids Fun Day” on Friday, October 31, 2025, marking the 60th anniversary of the Ghanaian cedi. The event saw the central bank open its premises to young citizens for an afternoon combining entertainment and vital financial education. Children participating in the day’s activities were treated to games and refreshments while engaging in interactive lessons specifically designed to foster an early understanding and appreciation for the national currency.

In a statement following the event, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama emphasized the institution’s commitment to nurturing the next generation’s financial literacy. The day served as a unique platform to impart knowledge about the cedi, ensuring that the country’s youngest cohort understands the importance and value associated with their national money.

The central bank concluded that the celebration was a resounding success, filled with joy, essential learning, and inspiration aimed squarely at securing a financially aware future for Ghana’s youth as the cedi marks its diamond anniversary.
