Accra – Renowned journalist and social critic Kevin Taylor has ignited a national controversy by publicly releasing documents he claims prove misconduct by the Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo. Taylor leveled serious allegations via a lengthy Facebook post, accusing the Chief Justice of improperly using her office for the benefit of her immediate family.

Specifically, Taylor alleged that Chief Justice Torkornoo authorized per diem payments for her husband and daughters without the necessary legal authorization. Furthermore, he accused her of violating procurement ethics by granting government contracts to her daughter through a restricted tendering process.
Taylor condemned the Chief Justice, stating, “The person entrusted with safeguarding the law is instead abusing her position for personal and familial gain. It’s such a shame!” and claimed to have attached documentary evidence to support these assertions.
These claims surface as the Chief Justice is already facing scrutiny from a five-member investigative panel, chaired by Justice Gabriel Pwamang, which is currently reviewing three existing petitions against her. Justice Torkornoo has been suspended pending the investigation, and the committee has scheduled meetings three times weekly.
Taylor’s fresh disclosures have intensified public interest, leading to increased calls for transparency and accountability as citizens await the committee’s next steps regarding these new, serious allegations.
