The Amanfro District Police Command successfully arrested three suspected robbers following an attack on passengers at Mallam Junction in the early hours of Thursday, October 16th, 2025. Acting swiftly on intelligence, a police team proceeded to the scene where four men were reportedly robbing commuters. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the suspects attempted to flee, resulting in the apprehension of Stephen Amoani, 42, Osei Antwi, 30, and Kwame Mike. A fourth suspect, identified as Kofi Sammy and reportedly armed with a pump-action gun, managed to escape the scene.

A search conducted immediately after the initial arrests yielded significant items believed to be stolen, including a cutlass concealed on Osei Antwi, a black Honda CR-V with trade plate number DV 3145-2025, three yellow gallons of akpeteshie, a bag containing GH₵12,055, and three mobile phones: a Samsung A05, an iPhone 16, and an Itel Android phone.

Further complicating matters, one of the arrested suspects, Kwame Mike, subsequently escaped custody on October 18, 2025, after requesting to use the washroom; the escorting officer has since been invited for questioning as part of an administrative inquiry.

On October 20, Stephen Amoani and Osei Antwi were arraigned before the Weija Circuit Court. After the facts and charges were explained to them in Twi, which they understood, both men pleaded not guilty and were subsequently remanded into Police custody until their next appearance on November 10, 2025.

Meanwhile, police efforts are intensely focused on apprehending the two suspects still at large, Kwame Mike and Kofi Sammy, to aid ongoing investigations. The Accra Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to public safety and urged residents to continue sharing credible information.
