The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has launched a major corruption prevention initiative in Tamale, known as #YouthAgainstCorruption (YAC), aimed at engaging young people in the fight against graft. YAC is training youth to actively protect their future by pledging to neither support, defend, nor promote corrupt individuals and practices, effectively taking a stand against “Mr. & Mrs. Corruption.”

This initiative comes as the OSP maintains an active presence in the region, with several prosecutions currently underway at the Tamale High Court. Among the high-profile cases is one involving the former Chief Executive Officer and two deputies of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), along with a private businessman, all charged in connection with an alleged inflated contract.

The OSP’s work in the Northern Region has already yielded significant financial results for the state. Following a ghost names risk analysis, the OSP successfully blocked an estimated annual loss of \text{GH}\cent 34 million.

Furthermore, the office has secured the conviction of six people in the region, with full restitutions having been paid back to the state treasury.
