In the heart of the Volta Region, where resilience meets tradition, a quiet revolution is stirring. Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, has announced a sweeping slate of development projects that promise to reshape the educational landscape of his beloved constituency. With humility and resolve, he extends gratitude to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) for what he calls “an honour bestowed upon us”, a partnership that signals not just infrastructure, but hope.

This year, nine major educational projects will break ground across Akatsi South, each one a testament to the constituency’s enduring commitment to learning, dignity, and opportunity.

At Avenorpeme Technical Institute, two transformative structures will rise: a two-storey, 12-unit classroom block and a six-unit technical workshop. These facilities will not only expand access to vocational training but also empower the next generation of artisans, engineers, and innovators.

Akatsi Senior High School will see a trio of critical upgrades: a two-storey girls’ dormitory to ensure safe and dignified accommodation for female students; three semi-detached, three-storey staff bungalows to attract and retain qualified educators; and two 12-unit toilet facilities to improve sanitation and student wellbeing.

In the rural communities of Dzogadze, Akeve Gui, Duawodome, and Anyiheme, basic schools will receive new six-unit classroom blocks, with Dzogadze and Akeve Gui also benefiting from 12-seater toilet facilities. These investments are more than bricks and mortar, they are declarations of worth, affirming that every child, regardless of geography, deserves a seat in a safe and inspiring classroom.

“This is just the beginning,” Hon. Ahiafor affirms. “Education is our foundation, but we are also preparing to advance youth employment, health and sanitation, agriculture, and many more sectors that touch the lives of our people.”

His words echo a broader vision: one where development is not episodic, but continuous; not imposed, but rooted in community need. In Akatsi South, the future is not a distant promise,it is being built, block by block, with gratitude, resolve, and the quiet power of collective hope.

As the sun rises over the plains of Avenor, so too does a new chapter, one shaped by leadership, partnership, and the enduring belief that progress must reach every corner, every child, every dream.
