Accra, Ghana — The Ghanaian Ministry of Education hosted the Canadian High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Myriam Montrat, and her delegation yesterday, underscoring the enduring partnership between the two nations in the education sector.
Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Clement Apaak, joined the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, in receiving the Canadian delegation. The meeting focused primarily on enhancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and youth skills development, areas deemed critical to Ghana’s educational transformation agenda.
Dr. Apaak commended the Government of Canada for its consistent and valuable support toward Ghana’s development, noting its impact on poverty alleviation and educational growth. He particularly appreciated Canada’s renewed commitment to education, which includes a significant allocation of $30 million Canadian Dollars dedicated to youth competency-based training and TVET initiatives.
The Ministry affirmed its commitment to strengthening technical education and foundational learning, which they described as key pillars for the nation’s educational transformation. The partnership signifies a robust effort to bolster the skills and competencies of Ghanaian youth.
