Royal Farewell: Asante Kingdom Concludes 4-Day Funeral

Kumasi, Ghana – The Asante Kingdom concluded a four-day period of mourning and burial rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, with a solemn burial service held on September 18, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace. The ceremony, presided over by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, drew a gathering of prominent national and international dignitaries.

Among those in attendance were President John Dramani Mahama, Deputy Eswatini Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla, and former Ghanaian Presidents Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufuor. The farewell service also saw the presence of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Second Lady Samira Bawumia, and former First Lady Nana Agyemang Konadu Rawlings.

The ceremony was marked by a sense of deep respect as leaders and citizens alike paid their final respects to the late Queen Mother. Following the service, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was laid to rest in a private burial ceremony later that night.
