Juapong, Ghana – Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on Monday commissioned a new Maternal and Child Health Clinic in Juapong, a project he says will significantly improve maternal health outcomes in the constituency. The MP partnered with the Engage Africa Now Foundation to build and equip the facility, which was completed in just six months. Mr. Ablakwa personally donated all the medical equipment needed to make the clinic operational. The new clinic is expected to handle up to 3,000 safe deliveries annually.
During the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Ablakwa also took the opportunity to announce several other approved projects for the North Tongu constituency. These include the construction of the Aveyime-Asutsuare, Juapong-Podoe-Abutia, and Sege-Battor-Mepe roads. Additionally, he announced the planned construction of a bridge over the Volta River, connecting Volivo to Dorfor Adidome. Educational facilities are also set to receive a boost with new dormitories, dining halls, and laboratories planned for all five senior high schools, along with a new teachers’ bungalow.
In a separate initiative, the MP announced that his office would cover the cost for all BECE candidates in the constituency to check their results for free. He reassured the people of North Tongu that, despite his busy national and international schedule, more development projects and initiatives are on the horizon. He stated that the constituency would “receive its fair share of development under President Mahama’s Reset Agenda.”
