ACCRA – The nation is in mourning following the tragic passing of a revered figure, and the tributes are pouring in. Among the most poignant is a moving tribute from the Honorable Sam Nartey Dzata George, who expressed his profound grief over the death of his close friend and mentor, Kofi Omane Boamah.

In a raw and emotional statement, Dzata George shared his personal sorrow and disbelief. “Where do I start and to whom do I turn?” he asked, describing the widespread despair among those who knew Omane Boamah. He questioned how such a tragedy could befall a man he remembered as “so calm and warm.”

Dzata George’s tribute highlighted a deep personal and professional bond. He described Omane Boamah not merely as a colleague, but as “the elder brother I didn’t have.” He recounted how Omane Boamah provided unwavering support throughout his political career, extending his care beyond politics to Dzata George’s family. He recalled Omane Boamah’s involvement in choosing schools for his children and his regular inquiries about their academic performance.

The Ningo-Prampram MP revealed that Omane Boamah had been a guiding light for him, especially in recent months. “You have been my compass and guiding light these past 7 months since I was appointed Minister,” he wrote, detailing how Omane Boamah had been preparing him for his role in Cabinet. With his mentor gone, he now questions who will guide him. “Who do I turn to now?”

In a powerful expression of his shaken faith, Dzata George openly questioned his beliefs in the face of this loss. He stated, “My faith is shaken. My belief is gone,” and challenged the notion of giving thanks in all circumstances, asserting, “It is certainly not well!” He concluded with a heartbreaking plea for his friend to “wake up” and for a final phone call.

The tribute serves as a powerful testament to the impact Omane Boamah had on those around him, leaving a void that is deeply felt both in Ghana’s political landscape and in the hearts of his loved ones.
