
Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed profound sorrow over the deaths of eight individuals, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, in a military helicopter crash in Ghana’s Ashanti Region on August 6. Akufo-Addo described the incident as a national tragedy that has left the country “profoundly shocked and saddened.”
The former President extended his deepest condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the Ghana Air Force, and the families of the victims. He saluted the role of the military personnel in the public life of the country and prayed for the peaceful rest of the deceased.
The government has directed all national flags to be flown at half-mast in honor of the deceased, and investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing. Vice President Bawumia also joins in mourning the loss of the victims.
