ACCRA – In a groundbreaking development for Ghanaian football, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Adesa Productions Limited (APL) officially launched a new partnership today. This strategic alliance is set to revolutionize the Ghana Premier League (GPL), with a significant financial commitment to all clubs.
As part of the deal, GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku announced that each of the 18 Premier League clubs will receive GH¢1 million before the start of the 2025/26 season. This substantial financial injection is aimed at bolstering club operations, enhancing competitiveness, and improving overall club administration.
GFA officials emphasized that this payment is not a grant but a firm commitment under the new business model. The partnership with APL, which will handle the production, management, and broadcast of the league, marks a bold step towards making the GPL a commercially viable and globally competitive sports product.
The partnership also includes plans for a merit-based prize structure, which will reward every club based on their final league position. This, along with funding for stadium upgrades and improved broadcasting technology, is intended to create a more attractive and professional league for both players and fans. The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to kick off in mid-September.
