Accra, Ghana – Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama officially commenced the 125th Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meetings at the Bank of Ghana on Monday, July 28, 2025. During his opening remarks at the Bank Square, Dr. Asiama posed a critical question for the committee’s deliberation: “One of the key questions that should be under consideration is whether the current macroeconomic configuration permits a recalibration of the policy stance.”
The Governor’s statement signals a potential review of the nation’s monetary policy direction, suggesting that the central bank is assessing whether the economic conditions are now stable enough to adjust its current policy settings. This consideration comes as the country navigates an ongoing period of economic recovery.
Dr. Asiama further urged the Committee members to ensure that any decisions made during the meetings would continue to bolster the economic recovery, critically without jeopardizing the significant gains that have been achieved in the economy thus far.
