The Ministry of Health has successfully processed salary payments for 321 Pharmacist House Officers who completed their housemanship in 2024. This action addresses a significant portion of outstanding financial obligations within the health sector, marking a crucial step toward resolving long-standing financial issues for these professionals.

However, the Ministry acknowledges concerns from the 2024 batch of Rotation Nurses and Allied Health Interns. These interns, who began their rotations in May 2024 and completed them in May 2025, have not yet received their salaries. The delay is attributed to the previous government’s inability to secure necessary financial clearance for these interns before their rotations commenced.

The Ministry is actively collaborating with relevant government agencies to prioritize and expedite the clearance process, aiming for a swift disbursement of all outstanding salaries. This initiative underscores the Ministry’s broader commitment to resolving salary arrears across all health worker categories and ensuring that all qualified professionals are supported in providing essential healthcare services to Ghanaians.

Tony Goodman, Deputy Director and Spokesperson for the Ministry, reassured affected Rotation Nurses and Allied Health Interns that their concerns are being urgently addressed. He added that the Ministry is also taking steps to implement a sustainable system to prevent such delays in the future, aiming to create a more efficient and reliable payment structure for all health professionals.
