Yendi, Ghana – Brigadier General Frank Worlanyo Agbebo, the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, made a significant visit to the Northern Region on Friday, July 25, 2025, meeting with key traditional leaders and troops. His itinerary included courtesy calls on the Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II, at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, and the Regent of Bimbilla, Nyelinbolgu Naa Yakubu Andani Dassana II.
During his visit to the Ya-Na, Brigadier General Agbebo expressed his appreciation for the continued support of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in promoting peace and security in the Northern Region. The Ya-Na, in turn, commended the military’s professionalism and pledged his support to the GOC in his new role. Similar sentiments of appreciation and collaboration were shared during the meeting with the Regent of Bimbilla.
Further demonstrating his commitment to the welfare and effectiveness of his troops, Brigadier General Agbebo also visited personnel deployed on Operation Gong Gong in Yendi and Bimbilla. He emphasized the critical importance of personal safety, reminding them it is vital for successful mission execution. He also issued a caution against disclosing sensitive information to unauthorized individuals and urged continuous vigilance in light of the increasing terrorism threat emanating from the Sahel region.
The GOC assured the troops that Command is dedicated to addressing their operational challenges to enhance their effectiveness and morale.
