Accra, Ghana – Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, on Wednesday congratulated the newly sworn-in Board of Directors of Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG), while simultaneously issuing a stern warning against lavish expenditures. The minister reminded the board that the government invested nearly GH₵30 billion to stabilize the banking sector, with CBG serving as a direct outcome of those efforts.
Dr. Forson reiterated the government’s commitment to recapitalize CBG in the upcoming year. However, he also emphasized the board’s critical duty to protect taxpayers’ money, highlighting their role as stewards of a vital national asset. He explicitly stated that “the era of excessive salaries and bloated board allowances in State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) will not be entertained under our administration.”
The new CBG Board of Directors includes Mr. Ernest Mawuli Agbesi as Chairperson, Dr. Naomi Wolali Kwetey as Managing Director, and members Ms. Irene Ackuaku, Mr. David Adom, Mr. Michael Kwasi Anyamesem, Mr. Stephen Kporzih, Dr. Sa-ad Iddrisu, Mrs. Immaculate Kawe Kanlisi, and Mr. John Alexander Ackon.
