Accra, Ghana – On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, inaugurated the governing boards of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), and the Ghana Export-Import Bank (Exim Bank). These inaugurations aim to significantly strengthen Ghana’s investment, industrialization, and export capabilities.
The 10-member GIPC board, chaired by former Minister of State Akwasi Oppong-Fosu, has been tasked with attracting foreign direct investment to create jobs and drive economic transformation. Minister Ofosu-Adjare announced a forthcoming review of the GIPC Act to ensure it is more robust and responsive to global investment trends. Mr. Oppong-Fosu pledged the board’s commitment to the President’s vision of a transformed Ghanaian economy.
Following this, the 12-member GSA board, led by Mr. Hudu Mogtari, was inaugurated. The Minister urged the board to prioritize quality assurance and standard harmonization, particularly in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), to enhance Ghana’s competitiveness. Mr. Mogtari assured the Minister of the board’s dedication to consumer protection and industrial development through improved standardization and regulation.
Finally, the newly constituted board of the Ghana Exim Bank was sworn in, with Dr. Joseph Nyarkotei Dorh as Chairperson. Dr. Dorh outlined the board’s strategic focus on strengthening the agriculture–agribusiness value chain, boosting food production for national security, promoting import substitution and export diversification, and accelerating garment and apparel exports. He specifically highlighted plans to increase rice production and expand the poultry industry, assuring the Minister of their commitment to the bank’s objectives.
The simultaneous inauguration of these three critical boards signals a renewed effort by the Ministry to enhance investor confidence, guarantee product and service quality, and bolster export capacity, all in support of Ghana’s broader industrial transformation agenda.
