Renowned Kumawood actress Mercy Asiedu has publicly endorsed John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for the upcoming presidential election. Speaking at a Mahama-sponsored event aimed at gathering feedback from the creative community, Asiedu highlighted Mahama’s positive impact on the sector during his previous tenure as president.
She recounted how Mahama provided vehicles to key industry figures, a gesture she believes significantly boosted their careers. Asiedu expressed confidence that Mahama’s return to power would further benefit the creative arts industry, urging her colleagues and fans to remember his past contributions when voting in the upcoming election.
“It is through his good ways that some people in the creative arts industry felt good. Some who had no cars got cars, so I beg you, let’s rally support for Mahama. He will do it because he has done it before,” Asiedu said.
John Mahama has proposed several initiatives to enhance the creative arts sector, including the establishment of a special TV channel dedicated to the industry. He has outlined 22 policies aimed at supporting the sector if elected as the next president.
Mahama will face Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and other candidates in the December 7, 2024 elections.
