It’s been 24 hours since some irate Moslem youth besieged the church premises of Rev.Owusu Bempah, a close ally and spiritual counsellor of the President of Ghana over some 31st watch night death prophesies which have been met with a grand public disapproval and yet we donot have any official statement from government concerning the matter yet.
The Ministry of Interior which is in charge of the internal security of the country has also failed to make any official statement on the matter to assure Ghanaians of their safety.
What has made this more worrying is the relationship between the so called man of God and the Presidency as the public has on so many occasions seen the President in the company of the said man of God from opposition and now in government.
Our fear is that the misconduct of the said Prophet and the accompanying response from the youth could transcend or degenerate into a political or religious stand off which can undermine the peace and tranquillity of this country if not properly handled.
Just as we have condemned the irate youth for their misconduct,we call on the Presidency to come out to condemn the conduct of the so called prophet as well so that it doesn’t look like the Presidency has taken a stance in this matter.
Both the actions of Owusu Bempah and that of the youth are condemnable and the President must quickly come out to condemn it or issue a statement through the Minister for Interior to clear most of the confusion settling in the minds of the people.
As the Commander in Chief of the Armed forces, the silence of President, the Presidency and the entire government is more loud and dangerous than the actions of these two parties combined.
Mr.President speak to your people and your people are ready to listen, but this time round, please don’t tell us we critisize too much,in actual fact we are already aware!!!
