Salifu-Krom D/A Primary Pupils Study On Mat And Bare Floor

Pupil’s of Salifu-Krom primary school in the Nkwanta- south Municipality in the Volta region, are forced to sit on mat and bare floor to study due to lack of desks and chairs to aid effective teaching and learning in the school.

A visit to the school revealed that from KG to class three lack desks and chairs to aid learning despite having over 60 children per class.
According to the headteacher of the school Mr. Yahaya Richard, the dire situation is affecting class attendant and performances of the school.
He added that the children sometimes refuse to come to school because of the depilated classroom they sit in to study.
The total number of furniture we have from KG to class three is less than 20, and so the KG’s are compelled to sit on the floor while others have limited desk.

In fact, the situation here is so appalling we don’t have textbooks and teaching aids, we therefore called on government, the municipal assembly, individuals, NGO’s and other agency to come to our aid and even be happy if government can also consider the school with the feeding program to enable the children stay in school;” he bemoaned.

Madam Tenge Grace, who is the KG teacher also touched on the school feeding program and appealed to the government to support them with teaching aids in the school.
Meanwhile, some frustrated pupils in an interview, called for support from individuals, organisation and the government.
