Ghana Meets Niger In Final AFCON Group Match..

.Next Match……Ghana vs. Niger 28/01/2013 ..Venue..Nelson Mandela Bay

………….A Draw  Will See The Stars through to the Next Stage Of The Competition..

The third and final group match for Ghana presents the team with chance to salvage some pride at the very least and maybe even squeeze through to quarters finals. The latter option though far fetched is a probability provided results from the other group B match between South Africa and Zimbabwe favours Ghana’s cause.

“We have to take care of our own business first” said Ghana’s Emmanuel Ansong.

Pretty much everyone in The Black Stars camp from coaches to players has admitted that mistakes have proved costly to their campaign in the competition. At the penultimate training session before Sunday’s match against Niger in Medani coach Herbert Addo spent a good period on shooting drills, a sure indication that goals count is likely to be key in deciding final group positions.
Both teams, Ghana and Niger have scored just goal each so far and across town at El Ahli sports club Niger’s training devoted a good spell to shooting too. Another Ghanaian player Emmanuel Clottey told cafonline they were going for broke and take the match to Niger, “The morale has lifted up in the camp and we are ready to correct our mistakes by winning” said Clottey. Ansong spoke of the how they are aiming for a victory as main priority, “All things are possible still and we are hopeful but even if other results don’t go our way, we will proud if we pick up three points and salvage some pride”
Addo added there will be a few changes to the team to face Niger to as they attempt to minimize errors and it will be an attack minded approach too. “We will be patient and cautious when needed but we have to show that we are better than the results we have produced so far.”
“The boys realize that we still have an outside chance to progress and l am sure this time they will deliver” said coach Addo. Ghana like to play a fast attacking style using wing backs, Saka Saka and Bismark Idan to supply service upfront. Daniel Larbi will look to add to his solitary goal against South Africa while striking partners, Ansong and Owusu Ampong seek to end their goal drought.
The midfield has been mobile and effective but it’s the backline that despite looking solid has been caught napping at the wrong times and punished for it. After the agony of watching this setback twice, coach Addo thinks this time round at the third time of asking, Ghana will get it right.Watch the game LIve
