A member of the United States Atlanta Chapter of the governing New Patriotic Party NPP, Mbawuni Bakutoma, has urged members of the party to desist from acts that will mar the success of the upcoming NPP Regional Executives elections.
The NPP from the 21st to April 24, 2018 heads to the polls to elect new regional executives to spearhead the affairs of the party at the regional level.
In a good will message to the aspirants, Mr. Bakutoma noted that the party has been able to conduct its activities without any serious disturbances after the 2016 general elections and therefore urged that these regional elections must also pass the test, adding that this is the time to rally around the “kukurudu” flag of the party.
He appealed to all contestants to respect the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the polls and wishing all the aspirants in the Upper East Region well.
Mr. Bakutoma urged those who will emerge victorious to embrace the vanquished so that they all work together as a united family.
He reminded members of five important tasks ahead of the party which include: Sustaining power with credible policies, projects and programming, Building strong democratic structures across the region and the country at large and Creating opportunities and equal platforms for all Ghanaians as they did in the past and will always do.
The rest he noted are: making the party the greatest mass movement in Ghana and Africa, and grooming future leaders of the country, as the party has always demonstrated.
Mr. Bakutoma, therefore noted that it is important to safeguard the unity of the party, expand their frontiers and make their ideology the best alternative for governance in the country.
He reminded those contestants who were defeated in the constituency level elections about the fact that they still remain an integral part of the party.
To the past executives, Mr. Bakutoma lauded their services to the party and asked them to continue to play an integral role towards the success of the great Elephant family.
He said they have important roles to play in the forward march of the party.
Mr. Mbawuni who is a native of Bawku noted that internal party contests are not about winners and losers, but rather the collective victory of the party in 2020 and beyond.
He appealed to those who were successful in the elections at the constituency level to reach out and bring on board their fellow aspirants who did not win, adding that unsuccessful aspirants should in their turn also reciprocate this gesture.
He congratulated the newly elected constituency executives on their victories indicating that his sleeves are rolled ready to work with all towards strengthening the NPP in the Bawku Central Constituency.
Mr. Bakutoma who has declared his intention to contest the primaries of the Bawku Central Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the NPP in 2020, described the constituency level elections as exciting and competitive, stressing that the high level of participation, enthusiasm and camaraderie the elections generated among party activists give an indication of the collective energy and commitment to retain power in the 2020 general elections.
