Source: Sekou Nkrumah……Kwame Nkrumah was head of government business in 1951 and Prime Minister in 1952 and that was before Ghana gained independence in 1957! So if Nkrumah was calling the shots at the time it is only logical to conclude that he named our beloved country (Ghana). Others could have suggested the name but that is irrelevant here!
On March 6, 1957 Nkrumah declared Ghana free from colonial rule! That makes him the founder of modern Ghana, and when Ghana became a republic in 1960 Nkrumah became the first president and father of our great nation!
