Every journey starts with a first step and so was it with the “BlackStars in Sankofa Saturday Program for Arts & Cultural Enrichment” (S.S.P.A.C.E.). With a registration fee of $100.00 each ,attendees were given lessons in some Ghanaian languages such as Twi and Ewe. Other Ghanaian languages were anticipated but there were no volunteers to teach the kids. Besides the teaching of these languages, there were Culture and History; dance and Music; Soccer; arts and craft lessons! On top of all these, the kids had free lunch each day of the session!
After a successful first session, no one begrudges them for throwing out invitation to the community for an open house and community day. Members of the community are being invited to witness first hand, the program these kids went through during the first session! The venue is Mt. Carmel High School, 6410 South Dante Avenue Chicago IL 60637. The event starts at 10:30 a.m prompt to 1 p.m.
Family, friends and community members of all ages are invited by the CEO of the organization, Akua Agyeman and her board of directors, to observe and participate in the final day of the first session. You cannot afford to miss this since the admission is free! Donations are however encouraged. Refreshments will be served!
Come one come all!
