Former Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and one-time running mate to PPP’s Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom in the 2012 general elections was on Friday laid in state at the forecourt of the State House.
The funeral is being organised by the State.
The funeral was attended by several dignitaries including Dr. Nduom, also the 2016 presidential candidate of the PPP, his running mate and some other party functionaries.
Some members of the public, family relatives and sympathisers were also present to pay their last respect.
Madam Lokko, until her demise on Thursday, October 6, 2016, was the parliamentary candidate of the PPP for the Korle Klottey constituency.
She passed away in the United States of America where she had been flown for medical treatment.
Madam Eva, as she was affectionately called, was an engineer who rose to become the first female Managing Director of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation. In 2012, she entered frontline politics when she accepted the nomination to become Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom’s Running Mate in the 2012 Presidential Election.
She worked in over forty countries across the world in various capacities and served as regional programme coordinator of the UNDP initiative for internet development in Africa.
She also served as chairperson of the UN Federation of International Civil Servants Association and the United Nations Staff Council and was a member of the UNDP News Advisory Board.
