One of the most dedicated Ghanaian sound engineers of our time,Ebenezer Crassie, aka Oshogbo, has advocated the need to have a policy in the creative arts industry that would ensure that musicians and actors/actresses undergo medicals like footballers.
Nine (9) months into 2016, the Ghanaian showbiz industry has already lost about eight (8) celebrities in the creative arts industry, owing to ill-health.
Recent casualties include Bob Okalla,Daasebre Gyamenah,Nkomode, George Williams, Middleton Kofi Mends and ace sound engineer George Forest
Most showbiz enthusiasts and the general public have, however, attributed the deaths of these departed celebrities to spiritual forces.
Speaking to Ebenezer Anderson aka Dr.Who ,host of “Hot and Classic Showbiz Review” on Accra-based Hot Fm,Oshogbo expressed a contrary view:
“For me I wouldn’t want to say there is anything spiritual behind the current celebrity deaths, but i rather think there should be a policy that would ensure that musicians and Actors/actresses undergo proper medical check-ups like footballers.
“Yes, Dr Who, they must undergo medicals like Messi,Ronaldo,Neymar,Hazard,Zlatan etc in order to know their medical conditions or statuses before they are signed by their managers or their record labels and surely ,it would help curb this rampant celebrity deaths “, Oshogbo affirmed
He appealed to the Minister for creative Arts,Tourism and Culture, Elizabeth Agyare, and all stake holders in the Ghanaian Creative Arts industry to take his advice seriously by implementing the policy.
Oshogbo, who is the owner of Music Klinic, has also recorded songs for many seasoned artists including Sherifa Gunu,Kaakyire Kwame Appiah,Tagoe Sisters, Nacee, Joyful Way Incorporated ,Rev.Yawson,Randy Nunoo, and international artists from South Africa, Nigeria, Europe and America
