The Best Journalist of the Year and the Best in Financial Reporting award winners will drive home brand new Hyundai vehicle.
At a handing over of the two vehicles to the GJA in Accra on, the President of GJA Dr. Roland Affail Monney said the vehicles will be a big motivation for practitioners to help promote qualitative Journalism.
He said this year’s event is aimed at encouraging and motivating journalists to champion the cause of national development.
Dr. Monney said by the nature of the job, journalists deserve the best and stressed the need for them to be recognised.
Mr Monney described the sponsors, Ideal Finance as reliable and traditional partners who over the years have supported the Association in the organisation of the annual awards.
The Managing Director of the company, Dr. Nii Kotei Dzani, said the sponsorship forms part of the company’s social responsibility to assist the GJA to develop and practice improved journalism in the country.
He said the award for the Best Financial Reporter which has been named Dr. Nii Kotei Dzani Special Award is to motivate financial journalists to aspire for excellence. He explains more.
Dr. Kotei Dzani said the Group will continue to support the Association in training and other programs.
The GJA awards is an annual event that seeks to honour and reward hardworking journalists and media houses.
Interested journalists are expected to file stories and articles that made news and created impact for the year under review.
A committee, made up of renowned experts, is selected to shortlist the best news stories and articles for the awards.
This year’s awards event, which will take place on August 20, 2016, has the theme: “The Media for Undisputed and Peaceful 2016 Election: the Support of Civil Society.”
