The High Court in Ho in the Volta region has ordered the Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor, to arrest and bring before it, the minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Dr. Kweku Agyemang-Mensah.

The order follows a bench warrant issued by the court, after the minister failed on several occasions to appear before it to answer contempt charges brought against his ministry.

Starr News understands the ministry was sued by some two individuals over destruction caused to their properties and as a result of the construction of the Ada Sea defense project.

An order by the court for the ministry to remedy the problem was not heeded, prompting the plaintiffs, Marshall Koblah Fenu and Zikpuitor Benjamin Atsu Fenu to cite the minister for contempt.

A source close to the case confirmed to Starr News’ Lambert Atsivor that the minister since December 2015, failed to appear before the court and on one occasion sent a note through an official of the ministry informing the court of his inability to appear due to ill-health.

However, at the last adjourned date, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 the court presided over by his Lordship Patrick Bayerh issued the bench warrant and instructed the IGP to arrest and haul the minister before him come April 15, 2016.

The minister is to appear with two other directors of the ministry.
