There is a rescue exercise currently underway to save over 100 passengers on a sinking ferry on the Volta Lake StarrFMonline.com has learnt.
The pontoon which is traveling from Mankago to Yeji started tumbling on the river around 6pm.
Sources have told StarrFMonline.com the boat is carrying traders who are returning to their homes after trading on the other side of the river. The ferry also has four cargo vehicles on board.
So far, two boats have reportedly gone to the rescue of the passengers with many more heading their way.
StarrFMonline.com sources say the passengers are desperately pumping water out of the ferry to keep it afloat.
No casualty has so far been recorded.
