There is growing concern over open defecation in the Fiaso community in the Techiman municipality of the Brong Ahafo region.
The Fiaso community, with a population of about one thousand, does not have a single toilet facility.
As a result, residents of the community have resolved to open excretion to ease themselves.
The situation makes cholera an imminent scare for the community if nothing is done to improve the sanitary situation.
An opinion leader in the community Robert Musah Adams told Starr News’ Michael Sarpong Mfum efforts to get the Techiman Municipal assembly to construct a toilet facility for the community has failed.
He said the community uses the only refuse dump in the area as their toilet.
“I have made several approaches to the assembly but have not been successful. The community has not got a single toilet facility in the community, open defecation has become common practice in the community,” he bemoaned.
He added the community will be willing to contribute anything to ensure that a toilet facility is constructed for them.
